the weather
The climate of the Cadiz coast is Mediterranean-African, and it is notable for having an average of 330 days of sun a year, that is why it receives the name of Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light). From spring to autumn, the temperature is very pleasant. In summer, it is moderate thanks to the moist air masses from the Atlantic. The highest temperature rarely rises above 30°C in the shade, while indoors, it can reach 40°C. Winters are mild and pleasant (the temperature hardly ever drops below 10°C). Even in December and January, you can enjoy temperatures between 15-20°C.
Another peculiarity of the weather of Costa de la Luz is its winds. The Levante wind makes this area a favorite for windsurfers. The Poniente wind, on the other hand, brings the cool breeze during the nights.
From October to May, there may be quick downpours. As for the sea temperature, the Gulf of Cadiz is not as cold as many people expect. In mid-May, the water temperature rises above 20°C. You will find pleasant bathing temperatures until mid-October and sometimes even until November.
